Linux hat sich als Alternative im Data Center etabliert. Oracle unterstützt Linux seit 1998 und ermöglicht es, leistungsfähige, hochverfügbare und skalierbare Lösungen für alle Anwendungsprofile zu realisieren. Für Oracle ist Linux bei weitem mehr als nur eine Plattform. Für Oracle ist Linux strategisch!

In dem Vortrag wird die strategische Ausrichtung von Oracle zu Linux beleuchtet, die neuesten Entwicklungen in diesem Umfeld, wie z. B. Unbreakable Linux, angesprochen und ein Einblick in die Arbeit des Kernel-Entwicklungsteams gegeben.

Über den Autor Olaf Kirch:

Olaf Kirch has a diploma in Mathematics from Techinical University Darmstadt. During his university time, he got hooked on UNIX and, when he learned of it, on Linux. He started with the 0.97.3 kernel and has been around since then. Olaf wrote the Linux Network Administrator's Guide, large parts of the Linux NFS implementation and has been fairly busy with Linux security issues ever since the mid-1990s. His current interests are in the Security and Networking area.
