In recent times, Ubuntu has gained huge success on the Linux desktop. From no users to millions of users in just a few years, Ubuntu has gained fans the world over due to its commitment to a "just works"; desktop while holding community and freedom up as core ideals behind the Ubuntu philosophy.
In this talk, Jono Bacon, Ubuntu Community Manager at Canonical takes a brief look at the history and growth of Ubuntu and then discusses where Ubuntu is moving forward and what is next for the project. The talk explores how the technological, community and philosophical direction of Ubuntu is growing, the challenges of maintaining a cutting edge distribution, work to optimise and improve the worldwide Ubuntu community, where Canonical fits into the picture, and how the project is dealing with the changing IT industry and the success and attention Ubuntu has attracted, all encases in an entertaining and amusing presentation.
