Mirror of Fedora

von Mike McGrath (Fedora Project)

Donnerstag, 31.05.2007, Saal 5: Wiesbaden, 17:00-18:00 Uhr

Fedora relies very heavily on its mirrors. Creating a personal mirror is both easy and helpful in reducing the load on our mirrors. Those interested in becoming a public mirror for Fedora have a bit more work to do.

Fedora works very closely with its mirrors for each release and our new Mirror Manager system makes it easier than ever to become a public mirror. This talk will describe the new system, how it works and how to use it. I will briefly discuss how to become a public mirror and how the actual mirroring system works with regards to GeoIP and how we ensure our mirrors are up to date.

There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the discussion and I'd encourage anyone who is interested in becoming a public mirror for Fedora to attend.

Über den Autor Mike McGrath:

Fedora Infrastructure lead. Based out of Chicago, enjoys working with Open Source as well as the people that work with Open Source. Currently employed with Red Hat.

As a Linux enthusiast I have been using Linux since 1995. I didn't actually get involved as an opensource contributor until many years later. I spent many of my earlier years as a developer before moving into the Infrastructure / Operations side of things. I still regularly code though most of my time is spent in the Fedora Infrastructure. I find challenging and rewarding.
