1. The Gym
At the moment of sending this infomail, we still have enough free places. So don't hesitate and order - or, at least, spread the word about it in the Community.
2. Storage
The situation at the Gym is that we cannot provide storage space there. But we arranged for such a space at the Rhein-Main-Hallen: Part of hall 10 is available for this purpose.
3. Important Things Regarding Rhein-Main-Hallen and the Exhibition
The Rhein-Main-Hallen ask us to point your attention to information they have collected at http://www.linuxtag.org/2006/de/aussteller/service.html
4. Setting up the Booth
Especially, keep in mind the period fixed for setting up the booth is from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM at Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006. The earlier you arrive and begin with this the better for all to solve eventually arising problems here.
We hope that the booth basics are ready for you when you arrive. Otherwise, please stand nearby, and make sure to have a guard at your stuff.
5. Dismantling the Booth
We all aim and hope for a successful event. However, everybody will be glad after days of hard work at the booth when the exhibition ends. While understanding to start with dismantling to get on the way home, we don't want you to start with this process too early.
Please try to put yourself in visitor's shoes - most of them would be surprised, to phrase that cautious, at the fact that everybody starts to tear down their booths while the exhibition hasn't ended. We ask you kindly to keep this in mind.
For dismantling of the booth on Saturday, May 6th, 2006, this period is scheduled: 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
While being in that process, it would be nice if you could please bring back the tables and chairs to the place where you've got them from on Tuesday. That would save us some hours of work collecting all tables and chairs again.
6. Furniture
We are sorry that we haven't managed to upgrade our vCC to handle your orders regarding furniture. Thus, we have to be pragmatic.
On Tuesday, there'll wait some pallets with tables and chairs for you. We ask you to carry away only your basic need. Please remember that the rule of thumb is that a booth size of 9qm justifies two tables and four chairs.
Remaining stuff should be distributed in a sensible way. If all else fails, we have to re-distribute tables and chairs from projects which have a lot of them.
Please understand that renting chairs and even smallest tables cost a lot of money. We have to act economically here. If there's need for more, or if you want to rent additional furniture, please contact us, and we'll try our best to help.
7. (W)LAN
It is definitely a good idea to have a network cable with you, best with a length of at least 10m. We are going to set up the network in the Rhein-Main-Hallen next Saturday and Sunday, (that is April 29th and 30th, 2006). If everything goes as planned we'll tell you the specs about WLAN and LAN later on that weekend.
8. Exhibitor Passes
You can get your badges in the LinuxTag HQ, aka "Messebüro". Please send someone from the project to us, who distributes the badges for her or his project among its members.
At the entrance, please ask your way to the Messebüro. You have to go upstairs, then head towards room 11. We'll have some signs to show you the way, too :-)
9. Community Evening
This LinuxTag the order changed: The Social Event is on Thursday evening, and the Community Evening is on Friday :-)
The Community Evening takes place Friday, May 5th, 2006, at the "Strassenmühle". This is the local where the PUG, the Penguin User Group, the LUG of Wiesbaden, regularly meets. Start is 6:30 PM.
Information about the "Strassenmühle" can be found here: http://www.diestrassenmuehle.de/home.htm
Let's meet in a friendly atmosphere to have a chat, food, and some beverages, of course. It will be the way many of you know from former years from the KaLUG-Fete: Food and drinks at low cost at a -if weather plays along-
beer-garden.
10. Social Event
Okay, and on Thursday, May 4th, 2006, is the Social Event!
It's in the "Schlachthof", a few minutes in the south of the Main Station. Please take a look at the Community map to find your way to the location. The distance can be covered without haste in less than 20 minutes by foot from the
Rhein-Main-Hallen. We are sorry but we cannot guarantee for a shuttle connection between "Schlachthof", Rhein-Main-Hallen, and Gym.
Doors open at 7:00 PM, begin is 8:00 PM.
There will be a contingent of tickets with a reduced price for project members, available for EUR 15,-. Ask us at LinuxTag HQ next week.
We serve a variety of food and drinks and have some music of a very special kind. In an adjoining room a live concert will take place: Sharon Jones And The Dap Kinks will play Funk & Groove. Before and after this, a DJ will put on Funk & Soul music.
11. Information About the Vicinity: Community Flyer
The nice people of the PUG are assembling a location map of the vicinity to help you find your way to the nearest bakery, pharmacy, and the like. Of course this will guide you to the Gym, too :-)
As soon as possible we'll send you this map. Perhaps there'll be an online version, too. You'll get a hardcopy of the ComFly when you arrive at the LinuxTag HQ.
On last thought - Bring along a extension cord of 5 - 10m to get an easier access to power.
Puh, a lot of work is ahead for you and us and also left in Wiesbaden. While feeling tired, a bit, at least, we are looking forward to finally see this whole thing in real happening next week in Wiesbaden!
