LPI exam development
von Klaus Behrla (LPI e.V. German)
Samstag, 06.05.2006, Raum 1A-3, 10:00-11:30 Uhr
In our workshop we'd like to demonstrate the development process of the LPI exams and to make this process more transparent to interested developers and other supporters who possibly would like to work in our community. Our processes are designed to be open to public participation. All software being developed by LPI is or will be released under the GPL license. We listen to suggestions and criticisms, responding to all serious comments when possible.
There are a number of ways that people in the community help LPI accomplish its goals, including helping to keep the website translations current, participating in surveys, contributing to LPI certification exams, joining discussion lists to share opinions and ideas, becoming involved in international affiliate groups, which support LPI around the world and ensure that its programs and suited to local needs, and building open-source software and other projects that help LPI achieve its goals.
All of LPI's efforts stress the qualities of quality, accessibility and relevance. Our community is making a difference in making Linux more acceptable in commercial environments, and in demonstrating the benefits of vendor-independent skills certification. We seek to demonstrate the professionalism and respectibility of computer systems administration. The openness and community involvement that Linux and open source have brought to the development and use of software, LPI strives to bring to the world of certification testing, and to the recognition of IT professionals.
