von Stefan Merten (Projekt Oekonux)
Freitag, 05.05.2006, Raum 1A-2, 16:00-19:30 Uhr
In the Project Oekonux (www.oekonux.org) different people with different opinions and different methods study the economic and political forms of Free Software. An important question is, whether the principles of the development of Free Software may be the foundation of a new economy which may be the base for a new society.
Über den Autor Stefan Merten:
Stefan Merten [www.merten-home.de] studied computer science and graduated with a diploma. He worked as a software engineer and today develops software and manages software projects in a big German Internet corporation. In his free time he contributed a couple of smaller Free Software projects to the community.
In 1989 Stefan Merten discovered his interest in political thinking and for many years was engaged in various projects and groups. In 1999 he founded Project Oekonux [www.oekonux.de]. In addition to countless contributions he acts as the maintainer of the project. Together with others he organized three international Oekonux conferences [www.oekonux-conference.org]. Also he gave a number of talks on subjects around Oekonux.
Today Project Oekonux is well-known in political contexts as well as in technical contexts. The project combines analysis of current developments in Free Software and other areas of Free Projects with a theory explaining the things happening. On this basis conclusions are drawn for a possible future society.
