PEAR is the official "PHP Extension and Application Repository". The PEAR-community offers a valuable collection of high quality, reusable PHP components. There's a wide range of solutions, designed to help at standard tasks as well as "tricky" implementations. Based upon common standards the classes offer flexible and functional interfaces, are designed to be reusable and extendable. Many packages were created by professional PHP-developers who use PEAR in their projects. Beside PHP components, the project also provides a unified installation infrastructure for PHP sources and PHP extensions written in C, which already has been adopted by a lot of projects. This session will give a quick introduction to PEAR, an overview on the happenings inside the PEAR community and highlights of the latest PEAR installer.
