GPSdrive and Kismet

von Antony Stone (Open Source IT)

Mittwoch, 03.05.2006, Saal 11B, 13:00-14:00 Uhr

GPSdrive is a mapping and tracking program for use with a GPS receiver, Kismet is a wireless network and packet sniffer.

Combining the two results in a "wardriving" system which can be used to detect wireless networks and plot their locations on a map in real time, as well as saving the data about network names, locations, security settings and addressing information for later study.

This talk will discuss how to use the programs in combination with each other, and also discuss aspects of adapting GPSdrive for use in a vehicle, using a driver-controlled touch-screen and a car-mounted PC rather than just a laptop sitting on the seat.
