KaLUG - Karlsruhe Linux User Group

The Karlsruhe Linux User Group supports the LinuxTag e.V. actively on site: KaLUG members coordinate the work of many voluntary supporters during LinuxTag. They take care of providing visitors with internet access: the internet café is planned, built and administered by the KaLUG and its partners.

The active LUG members meet regularly once per month to give talks or just chat over topics around Linux. Because of the involvement in LinuxTag, the KaLUG is working on becoming a registered charitable legal entity in Germany.

If you have questions regarding the KaLUG, please contact  Steffen Mutter.

Informationen at the KaLUG area

As in the last years KaLUG attemps to provide their self-administered area in the Stadthalle together with its partners and sponsors. This of course depends on people and sponsors willing to provide time, manpower and materials for the LinuxTag presence. Therefore we would like to point out that it is possible that changes from the current plans might occur.

KaLUG has been assigned its own area from LinuxTag e.V. The group shows its own work there and beyond this provides visitors with a meeting point and a central area for getting and exchanging community-related information around LinuxTag. This covers (among other things)

The internet cafe

The internet cafe offers visitors the possibility to check emails and look wheter everything is ok at home. Provided are both cable bound ethernet (TP/RJ45 cable) as well as Wireless LAN for visitors who have their own notebooks with them. People who do not have an own computer at LinuxTag can use the self-developed diskless clients (click on the picture), which boot their OS over the network from a central server - of course completely implemented with Linux.

If you have questions regarding the configuration, provided protocols and internet access, please contact the  KaLUG.
