Intel Software Development Products with support for Dual Core Processors for Linux and Windows

von Vadim Roussin (Intel Software and Solution Group)

Freitag, 24.06.2005, Practical Linux Forum, 13:00-14:00 Uhr

This seminar provides an overview of the Multi-core platform roadmap for the Intel(r) Itanium(r) Processor Family. Future dual core Itanium(r) 2 processors were first announced in February 2003, making dual-and multi-core a long planned strategy to enhance the overall computing platform. By enabling enhanced performance, reduced power consumption and more efficient simultaneous processing of multiple tasks, multi-core processors promise to improve the overall end-user experience. To enable this improvement, the software running on the platform must be written such that it can spread its workload across multiple execution cores, called thread-level parallelism or "threading." We will discuss the set of software tools that Intel has developed for software developers so they may quickly and easily develop and tune their applications take to advantage of multi-core environments on upcoming Intel platforms.
