Major events at LinuxTag


After the successful start in 2004 LinuxTag offers again Tutorials held by outstanding instructors from 21. to 23. June 2005.

LinuxTag's first public day (wednesday) features the Business- und Behördenkongress. Here IT decision makers get an overview over new technologies and decision support for investments into IT infrastructure. The programme - designed in cooperation with the German ministry of the interior - shows the complete spectrum of uses of Free Software and Linux in corporate environments as well as in public administration. The programme is published in april.

The free conference program with more than 100 talks and presentations is open to all visitors of the exhibition. The programme is published in april.

The exhibition takes place on all four days in the Gartenhalle of the Karlsruhe Exhibition and Congress Centre.

Entrance fees:

One-day-ticket 15 EUR, 2 days 25 EUR, 3 to 4 days 35 EUR.

Students receive a discount of 5 EUR per ticket. There are special contingents for the community.

Opening times: The exhibition is open to visitors daily from 9am to 6pm .
The events within the free conference programme always start at 10am. For details please cf. the programme listing.
Registration for the Business- und Behördenkongress is possible from 8am; at 9am the opening event takes place.

Tutorials participamnts receive the starting times of their tutorials together with their booking confirmation.

Further highlights

The number and variety of offerings at LinuxTag is unique and unmatched:

Coding-Marathon: Developers give a live show of their abilities. Everybody can participate and win valuable prizes. The Coding Marathon is offered in cooperation with HP and Intel.
Hacking Contest: The best security experts compete with each other. In this traditional event - supported by Astaro - the teams show current trends in system security during their competition.
LPI-Exams: Exams for the Linux certifications of the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) can be passed at LinuxTag (all levels, all exams).
Linux in schools and education: This large topic shows areas of use of Linux in education, both for teachers as well as for students.
